Choose your Moon sign (Janma Rāśi)

These are Moon signs, not Sun signs. The dates on each card are when the Sun sits in that rāśi — a rough fallback if you have never had a chart cast. Your Janma Rāśi is where the Moon was at your birth, and for most people it is a different sign entirely. Not sure? Cast your chart to find your Moon sign — it takes a date, a time and a place, and it is free.

Meṣa मेष

Aries Lord: Mars

27 August 2026 · Moon sign reading

Saturn in the 12th from Meṣa — Sāde Sātī, the opening two and a half years; steady, unhurried work is the classical counsel.

Counting from Meṣa मेष — Aries, your Janma Rāśi (the sign the Moon was in at your birth) — here is where the grahas (planets) actually stand on 2026-08-27. Saturn sits in the 12th from your sign, which puts Meṣa in Sāde Sātī: expense, tiredness and a quiet loosening of things you were holding on to. That is the backdrop; the rest moves faster. Running in your favour: Moon in the 11th (gains, income and the people who help you) and Mars in the 3rd (courage, effort, short journeys and siblings) — each of these houses is one the Bṛhat Saṁhitā counts as benefic for that graha. Worth handling carefully: Sun in the 5th (children, learning, creativity and judgement), Venus in the 6th (work pressure, debts, rivals and everyday obstacles) and Saturn in the 12th (spending, letting go, rest and time spent abroad). These are cautions in the classical sense — pressure to work with, not events foretold. The Moon, which sets the tone of a single day, is in Kumbha, the 11th from Meṣa — one of the five places the verse calls benefic for it, so the day should feel workable. Everything above is traceable: it comes from where the grahas sit between 2026-08-27 and 2026-08-27, counted from your sign, read against one cited table — and from nothing else.

Sāde Sātī साढ़े साती

Saturn is transiting the 12th from Meṣa — Sāde Sātī, the opening two and a half years. The classical indication is expense, tiredness and a quiet loosening of things you were holding on to. It is a long, slow transit measured in years — the season behind this day, and it answers to steady discipline.

! handle with care

Work & standing

This asks you not to force authority or burn through your energy — Sun (Sūrya) is now in Siṃha, the 5th house from Meṣa, the house of children, learning, creativity and judgement. Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 does not count the 5th among Sun’s benefic transit houses.

↑ favourable

Mood & the people around you

This keeps the mood level and people easy to deal with — Moon (Chandra) is now in Kumbha, the 11th house from Meṣa, the house of gains, income and the people who help you. Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 counts the 11th among Moon’s benefic transit houses.

↑ favourable

Energy & initiative

This gives drive that actually lands — Mars (Maṅgala) is now in Mithuna, the 3rd house from Meṣa, the house of courage, effort, short journeys and siblings. Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 counts the 3rd among Mars’s benefic transit houses.

· neutral

Talk, study & paperwork

This gives ordinary rather than clever results — read things twice before sending them — Mercury (Budha) is now in Siṃha, the 5th house from Meṣa, the house of children, learning, creativity and judgement. Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 does not count the 5th among Mercury’s benefic transit houses.

· neutral

Growth, money & guidance

This makes growth slower than usual — not blocked, just unhurried — Jupiter (Guru) is now in Karka, the 4th house from Meṣa, the house of home, mother, land and peace of mind. Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 does not count the 4th among Jupiter’s benefic transit houses.

! handle with care

Relationships & comfort

This puts friction into affection and spending — take it lightly, not gravely — Venus (Śukra) is now in Kanyā, the 6th house from Meṣa, the house of work pressure, debts, rivals and everyday obstacles. Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 names the 6th among the three houses it calls adverse for Venus.

! handle with care

Work, duty & patience

This indicates delay, extra duty and slow progress — Saturn (Śani) is now in Mīna, the 12th house from Meṣa, and moving retrograde, the house of spending, letting go, rest and time spent abroad. Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 does not count the 12th among Saturn’s benefic transit houses.

What this means for you

Of the 7 grahas read here, 2 stand in a house Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 counts benefic for them, 3 where Horā marks care, and 2 where it marks neutral. For most of those last two the verse says nothing either way; which of them a graha is shown as is Horā’s own convention, not the text’s. The one long thing in it is Sāde Sātī, which is measured in years — background, not news. How much weight to give it: this is the widest lens Horā offers — a true reading of the sky as it now stands over Meṣa, the Moon sign you were born under, and everyone born under Meṣa shares it on 2026-08-27. For the reading that is yours alone — shaped by your ascendant, your daśā and each planet’s own strength — cast a birth chart, which reads all of that together.

What this means for you

Before any Sanskrit word appears: this reading takes one fact about you — the sign the Moon stood in at the moment you were born — and compares it with where the planets have moved to on 2026-08-27. That movement is called gochara, transit: where a planet is passing now, rather than where it sat at your birth. And when a line below says a planet is in “the 6th from your sign”, it means the sixth sign counting onward from yours — from Meṣa, in your case. Each of those twelve positions is traditionally read as one department of life, and the words printed after it name which. Where a line says a planet is moving retrograde, it means the planet appears from the Earth to be moving backwards against the stars for a time. It is an appearance, produced by the two bodies circling the Sun at different speeds.

Vṛṣabha वृषभ

Taurus Lord: Venus

27 August 2026 · Moon sign reading

Mars in the 2nd from Vṛṣabha — energy runs hot, and haste is the classical caution.

Counting from Vṛṣabha वृषभ — Taurus, your Janma Rāśi (the sign the Moon was in at your birth) — here is where the grahas (planets) actually stand on 2026-08-27. Worth handling carefully: Sun in the 4th (home, mother, land and peace of mind) and Mars in the 2nd (money, family and what you say). These are cautions in the classical sense — pressure to work with, not events foretold. What this means for you

Of the 7 grahas read here, 3 stand in a house Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 counts benefic for them, 3 where Horā marks care, and 1 where it marks neutral. For most of those last two the verse says nothing either way; which of them a graha is shown as is Horā’s own convention, not the text’s. How much weight to give it: this is the widest lens Horā offers — a true reading of the sky as it now stands over Kanyā, the Moon sign you were born under, and everyone born under Kanyā shares it on 2026-08-27.

And when a line below says a planet is in “the 6th from your sign”, it means the sixth sign counting onward from yours — from Kanyā, in your case.

That is the backdrop; the rest moves faster. Running in your favour: Sun in the 6th (work pressure, debts, rivals and everyday obstacles), Mercury in the 6th (work pressure, debts, rivals and everyday obstacles) and Jupiter in the 5th (children, learning, creativity and judgement) — each of these houses is one the Bṛhat Saṁhitā counts as benefic for that graha. Worth handling carefully: Mars in the 4th (home, mother, land and peace of mind), Venus in the 7th (partners, in marriage and in business) and Saturn in the 1st (you yourself — health, mood and how you come across). These are cautions in the classical sense — pressure to work with, not events foretold. The Moon, which sets the tone of a single day, is in Kumbha, the 12th from Mīna — not one of its benefic places, so let the mood settle before acting on it. Everything above is traceable: it comes from where the grahas sit between 2026-08-27 and 2026-08-27, counted from your sign, read against one cited table — and from nothing else.

What is moving, and where it comes from

! handle with care

Sāde Sātī साढ़े साती

Saturn is transiting the 1st from Mīna — Sāde Sātī, the middle two and a half years, with Saturn standing directly on the sign. The classical indication is the most demanding stretch of the cycle — slower progress, heavier duty, and a strong pull to simplify. It is a long, slow transit measured in years — the season behind this day, and it answers to steady discipline.

↑ favourable

Work & standing

This brings recognition and the confidence to move a matter forward — Sun (Sūrya) is now in Siṃha, the 6th house from Mīna, the house of work pressure, debts, rivals and everyday obstacles. Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 counts the 6th among Sun’s benefic transit houses.

· neutral

Mood & the people around you

This leaves the mood as weather rather than news — let it settle before you act on it — Moon (Chandra) is now in Kumbha, the 12th house from Mīna, the house of spending, letting go, rest and time spent abroad. Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 does not count the 12th among Moon’s benefic transit houses.

! handle with care

Energy & initiative

This runs hot — friction, haste and temper are the classical caution — Mars (Maṅgala) is now in Mithuna, the 4th house from Mīna, the house of home, mother, land and peace of mind. Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 does not count the 4th among Mars’s benefic transit houses.

↑ favourable

Talk, study & paperwork

This favours conversation, study, writing and paperwork — Mercury (Budha) is now in Siṃha, the 6th house from Mīna, the house of work pressure, debts, rivals and everyday obstacles. Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 counts the 6th among Mercury’s benefic transit houses.

↑ favourable

Growth, money & guidance

This is the classical mark of support, growth and sound advice — Jupiter (Guru) is now in Karka, the 5th house from Mīna, the house of children, learning, creativity and judgement. Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 counts the 5th among Jupiter’s benefic transit houses.

Relationships & comfort

This puts friction into affection and spending — take it lightly, not gravely — Venus (Śukra) is now in Kanyā, the 7th house from Mīna, the house of partners, in marriage and in business. Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 names the 7th among the three houses it calls adverse for Venus.

Work, duty & patience

This indicates delay, extra duty and slow progress — Saturn (Śani) is now in Mīna, the 1st house from Mīna, and moving retrograde, the house of you yourself — health, mood and how you come across. Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 does not count the 1st among Saturn’s benefic transit houses.

The one long thing in it is Sāde Sātī, which is measured in years — background, not news. How much weight to give it: this is the widest lens Horā offers — a true reading of the sky as it now stands over Mīna, the Moon sign you were born under, and everyone born under Mīna shares it on 2026-08-27.

And when a line below says a planet is in “the 6th from your sign”, it means the sixth sign counting onward from yours — from Mīna, in your case.

What this is built on

How this reading is made

Start here if the words below are unfamiliar. A rāśi horoscope reads one thing only: the sign the Moon stood in at the moment you were born. It looks at where the planets have moved to since, counts their positions onward from that sign, and checks each one against a single table from a classical text. That is the whole method — one fact about you, one cited table, applied to the sky as it actually stands.

The classical rule, quoted in full
“When the Sun passes through the 6th, 3rd and 10th signs from the sign occupied by the Moon at the time of birth of a person, the effects will be benefic; when the Moon passes though the 3rd, 6th. 10th, 7th, and 1st signs from the Moon, the effects will also be benefic; when Jupiter passes through the 7th, 9th, 2nd and 5th signs or when Mars and Saturn pass through the 6th and 3rd signs or when Mercury passes through the 6th, 2nd, 4th, 10th and 8th signs from the Moon, the effects will be benefic. But when Venus passes through the 7th, 6th and 10th signs from the Moon, the effects will be malefic. All the planets (graha) produce benefic effects when they pass through the 11th house from the Moon.” Varāhamihira, Bṛhat Saṁhitā, ch. 104 (graha-gocara), verse 4 — N. Chidambaram Iyer, English translation, 1884 (the text hosted on wisdomlib). Quoted verbatim, including its OCR artefacts ("passes though", "3rd, 6th. 10th"), so the quotation can be checked against the source rather than against a tidied paraphrase.

The verse gives Venus its adverse houses (6, 7, 10) rather than its favourable ones; the other nine are therefore its favourable set, which is how the published tables render it.

The 11th appears in every row because the verse grants it to all grahas.

The same table is printed in B. V. Raman, Hindu Predictive Astrology, ch. 34 (Gocharaphala), agreeing cell for cell — except that Raman also gives Mars the 10th. The Bṛhat Saṁhitā does not, so Horā follows the verse and omits it. The variant is named here rather than quietly absorbed.

What Horā leaves out: Rāhu and Ketu carry no favourable-house row in Bṛhat Saṁhitā 104.4 and none could be verified against a second published source, so both are omitted from the reading entirely rather than guessed. Their positions are still reported as astronomy under `transits`.

Vedha is not applied: Vedha — the obstruction rule, by which a favourable transit is cancelled when another graha occupies the obstructing house — is NOT implemented. The vedha tables are a separate body of doctrine from the verse quoted above, and applying them from memory would be exactly the invention this platform refuses. Every favourable reading here should therefore be read as unobstructed by assumption, not by test. A cast chart does not depend on this omission.

The favourable-house table, cell by cell
Benefic transit houses counted from the Janma Rāśi
Sun 3, 6, 10, 11
Moon 1, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11
Mars 3, 6, 11
Mercury 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11
Jupiter 2, 5, 7, 9, 11
Venus 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12
Saturn 3, 6, 11
Rāhu, Ketu— no verified row; omitted from the reading.

The Moon is scored, because a single day is short enough for one lunar transit to hold.

Saturn’s long cycles — Sāde Sātī and the rest

Sāde Sātī: Saturn transiting the 12th, 1st and 2nd from the Janma Rāśi — about seven and a half years in all.

Ardhāṣṭama Śani: Saturn in the 4th from the Janma Rāśi (Ardhāṣṭama Śani, also called Kaṇṭaka Śani).

Aṣṭama Śani: Saturn in the 8th from the Janma Rāśi (Aṣṭama Śani).

Standard gochara doctrine (Phaladīpikā; BPHS transit principles). The same three cycles, under the same names, are reported for a real natal Moon by src/ganita/gochara.js; the favourable-house table above is not part of that module.

Where Horā is making a judgement call, not quoting a text

DISCLOSED CONVENTION OF VEDIC HORĀ, not classical doctrine: a graha in one of its benefic houses is shown "good"; Venus in the 6th, 7th or 10th is shown "care" because the verse names those adverse; otherwise a natural malefic (Sun, Mars, Saturn) is shown "care" and a benefic "mixed", since the verse is simply silent there. The order of the areas, and which transit is picked to lead the headline, are also Vedic Horā’s editorial choices.

the ephemeris, sidereal, Lāhirī (Citrapakṣa) ayanāṁśa. A rāśi reading has no birthplace, so the window is reckoned in UTC.

Plain-English rendering of the standard bhāva significations carried in src/phala/data/significations.js (BHAVA), per BPHS / Phaladīpikā.

PLAIN-LANGUAGE LAYER, ADDED BY VEDIC HORĀ — not part of any text. Each reading opens with a paragraph in ordinary words and closes with a "what this means for you" one. Both are composed from the same transits and the same cited table as the reading itself: they introduce no claim, no source and no strength of their own. The counts they quote are counts of the transits that actually fired, and the words benefic, care and neutral are the rendering convention described above rather than the verse’s own vocabulary.

A rāśi horoscope is the broad reading: one indication for all born under the same Moon sign. Results depend on the strength and placement of the planets in your own chart — your ascendant, your daśā (planetary period) and the natal positions personalise it, and a cast birth chart reads all of those. Nothing here is medical, financial or legal advice.

This is the weather. Your chart is the forecast.

A rāśi reading uses one fact about you. A birth chart uses your ascendant, your daśā, and where these same grahas stood the day you were born.
